Jo and Norm Hill, proud owner/operators of 'The Chalet' Blue Mountains moved from the hustle & bustle of Sydney to pursue their dream to restore & rejuvenate The Chalet into a Boutique Hotel style Bed and Breakfast.
Jo, from the travel & tourism industry certainly knows what guests are looking for when it comes to accommodation with an "away from it all" atmosphere. Deliberately, there are no TV's in the Guest Rooms. There is a peaceful Guest Lounge with the 'Mod Cons' - TV, DVD, CD's and Books - but most of all the Old World Charm and the Open Fire. Norm, on the other hand has had many years experience as 'Front of House' in Wedding Reception Venues in Sydney. As Maitre D' , he is always on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly, along with help from his wonderful staff. Jo and Norm will make you feel very special whether you are here for a one "night stay" a " special event " or fairytale wedding at 'The Chalet'. History of the Chalet The Chalet - Blue Mountains Boutique Hotel style Bed and Breakfast has local historic significance as a family home of Mark Foy in the early 1900's. Built in 1892 by William Eyre, he sold it to Arthur Richard who named the property 'Strathmore'. In 1903 Mark Foy purchased it for his sister, Elizabeth Macken, who re named it 'Carron '. Mark Foy built The Hydro Majestic in Medlow Bath, which opened in 1904. In the early 1920's The property was known as Unies's Bush Hotel, and boasted 3 Tennis Courts and a Dancehall. In the early 1930's the new owner changed its name to 'The Chalet'. 'The Chalet' has had several owners over the last few decades. Jo & Norm purchased 'The Chalet' in 2001, and have renewed and renovated this grand old property into a AAA 4 Star accommodation and function venue. |
